Alena Dostalova, born 1982 in Czech Republic, is a London-based artist and design consultant. Her practice is predominately focused on drawings and paintings, though previous projects have included photography and mixed media. Her current works incorporate pencil, watercolour, acrylics and ink on paper.

"I am passionate about art and design; it is my life and I love everything to do with it. I grew up in Czech Republic strongly influenced by visual culture from early on. My parents supported my art education and I was encouraged to pursue my passion alongside my studies in languages and the history of art. Living in Brno as a teenage girl, I worked with an academic painter on the production of several paintings to adorn the Masaryk Student Home, where I boarded. When I moved to London, working in Sloane Graphics provided an environment to explore and develop my artistic visions. I was able to experiment with abstraction and sell my work, it was a school of life. Since then I have stayed in London, working in art and design to forge relationships between the two."
