David studied fine art at Berkshire College of Art and University College of
Wales, Aberystwyth, graduating in 1973. He exhibits regularly with the Royal
West of England Academy, Bristol, and the Mall Galleries, London, and is
represented by the Stour Gallery, The Darryl Nantais Gallery and Linton59.
He has won a number of awards including the prestigious 2017 Charles Pears
Award from the Royal Society of Marine Artists and is an elected member of
the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists.
An abstract impressionist of outdoor scenes, both urban and rural, David uses
colour and tone to evoke the atmosphere associated with a place and time
of day. The paintings have an abstract quality but often retain representational
elements. In his abstract paintings, he reduces shapes to a minimum of line
and colour in order to extract the essence of the subject.
