Denise has painted all her life, but trained initially in textile design. After completing her degree,
she worked for many years as a freelance illustrator for major publishing companies worldwide in
the field of books, fine art prints, greeting cards and associated products.
Now Denise concentrates on painting, inspired by the beautiful countryside where she lives in
Shropshire. She paints in watercolour and gouache, on hot pressed paper or vellum.
Denise is a member of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers and exhibits
annually with the Society at the Mall Galleries, London. She is also a member of the Society of
Botanical Artists and exhibits annually with the Society at Westminster, London, and every two
years at Palmengarten, Frankfurt, Germany.
Denise has exhibited miniature paintings for many years at Llewellyn Alexander Fine Paintings,
London, winning the Llewellyn Alexander Masters Award for the most outstanding set of paintings
of fruit in an exhibition of 800 paintings.
The Hunt Institute for Botanical Documentation acquired Denise’s painting “Pomegranates” for their
permanent collection in 2015, to be exhibited at the 15th International Exhibition of Botanical Art at
the Hunt Library, Carnegie Mellon University, USA. Her painting “Honeysuckle” was exhibited at the
New York Design Centre with the American Society of Botanical Artists at the 19th Annual
International Exhibition of Botanical Art.
